Death visited our family early in my youth, taking my father without warning, exacting its toll of loss and grief on me, my mom, and four siblings, leaving us all emotionally scarred. We loved Dad and grieved bitterly, surviving with feelings of desolation and sorrow as our strong family circle was forever broken; my sister, ten years old, was unable to comprehend "why Dad left her." God's Angel of Death would visit my family, inflicting the pain of sorrow and loss repeatedly, and in the years to come I would lose my mother, sister, and two younger brothers. I would later become estranged from my own family through divorce, and relocation would sever relationships, uprooting me from my career, the old familiar places and faces, plunging me back into sadness and loneliness, grim reminders of loss from the not distant past. In the middle of the storms I lost my auditory senses and had to adapt to an entirely new world that introduced fear and rejection, and at one point of my life I became fearful of dying suddenly. I realized, too much later, that I never really was ever alone; God was always with me and he was keeping me here, carrying, guiding, strengthening me through every storm, giving my life direction again, restoring me full-circle to his purpose for me--writing to tell of his love. It took a while for me to understand God's grace, how he led me through the years of stormy darkness to a relationship with him through love and mercy that is unsurpassed; and, while I am still working on life, a great part of its purpose is to share my hope and faith and attest to God's love and grace, but most of all to bear witness to the triumphant, peaceful joy of walking, talking with, and listening to God along the valleys and mountaintops of life.

It is pure torture to watch a loved one slowly lose everything and know there is nothing that can be done for them. It is so important to reassure your loved ones during the early stages of this disease. The more worked up they get, the more inept and useless they feel. Nobody should feel this way, especially those in the early stages of dementia. It's not easy to be patient under normal circumstances. It's even harder the fifteenth time you're looking for a cell phone or car keys. You must force yourself to always exercise patience. If finding their phone is important to them, then it should be important to you. Telling them not to worry about it, or it'll show up, doesn't help at all. You might as well be talking to a wall. Finding a lost item will become a fixation for them. Drop whatever you're doing and find the item. Be sure to include them in your search. Chances are they're going to follow you around anyway. This is a memoir of my journey caring for two loved ones, and experiencing the loss of a third loved one to this terrible disease. Witness with me, up-close and personal, the different stages of dementia- from early signs, diagnoses, progression, and finally the heart wrenching end. Learn from my experiences to identify the early symptoms sooner. And, more importantly, learn how to care for your loved one so that they never walk alone...

Cautionary tales from West Virginia, Africa, and Central Europe are related by each boy until they are certain Mothman, Monster, and Ghost are after them. Are they scared? Not enough to admit it, but they certainly are running for home a little faster than usual.

This is a historical romance set in the West when times were unsettled for the Indian's and the white man. This story tells how Joseph Wayne who was raised in private schools all of his life found that now that he had graduated the Military School he would fulfill his dream of joining the Calvary. As he traveled to the fort to enlist he meets Beth, a young woman who needs his help to get her and her son to the safety of the fort because her town had been attacked by a group of renegade Indian's. Beth knew her son Tommy's life was in danger if she stayed on her little run down farm just to protect it because she would have to be the one who fought off these Indian's. She and her son had been living alone on the farm for over a year because her husband abandoned her and Tommy for a singer from the town's saloon. As Joe and Beth traveled to the fort, Joe could see all the beauty of the woman that Beth was and he found he was falling in love with her, but because she was a married woman he hid his true feelings from her. When they met the Calvary along the way they continued on to the fort with them, but Joe was shocked to discover that another woman also was traveling with the troops to the fort. The troops had found Della wondering the trail as she made her escape from a tribe of Indian's who had held her captive for over a year. The shock came when Joe discovered that Della was the woman who had run off with Beth's husband and he also learned that he had been killed the day they captured Della. When the tribe finds Della among the Calvary men, the braves are instructed to bring her back to the tribe, but the brave that snuck in Joe and Beth's campsite abduct Beth also as Joe lay sleepingjust a few feet away. This story comes full circle when Silvertip son of the chief abandons his tribe and his heritage to go live among the white man so that he can find Della who had been given her freedom along with Beth. Silvertip's search for Della took him into a new way of life as he learned how to live among the white man. Silvertip could find no peace in either world without Della.
